1. We're thinking about upgrading from Microsoft Word XP to Word 2007. If we order Grebins now will it still work when we upgrade?
For Grebins orders placed during or after 1 September 2008 yes, it can will work with both Word XP and Word 2007. Before this date Grebins was specific to either Word XP or Word 2007. If you purchased before this date and are upgrading to Word 2007 then you might want to consider ordering a new copy (upgraders receive a 50% discount) and getting access to all the latest words.

2. Is Grebins appropriate for me?
The Grebins Medical Word list contains British English medical words that are appropriate for use in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and other Commonwealth countries. American English medical spelling is different from British English medical spelling so Grebins is generally not appropriate for use in the US.

3. Why are American and British English medical spellings different?
When the new world was colonised in the 18th century spelling was much more flexible and non-standardised (non-standardized) than it is today. Spelling only became standardised as the language was catalogued (cataloged) and the first dictionaries produced in the 19th century. Changes continued through the 19th and early 20th centuries with various spelling reforms proposed on either side of the Atlantic with some incorporated into the language and some not. The result is distinctly different American and British English spellings of words in all walks of life, including medicine. The most common variations between American and British English spelling for medical words is the use of 'ae' and 'oe' in British English being replaced by 'e' in American English although this is by no means the only variation.

4. What are the differences between American English and British English medical spelling?
There are a lot of medical words spelt differently. Here are just a few examples of the differences between US and UK English spelling.

5. Will Grebins work on my computer?
Grebins works with all Microsoft Windows versions of Microsoft Word since 2000 up to and including Microsoft Office 2007.

6. Will installing Grebins remove the words I have previously added?
No, all your old words will still be in place. Grebin's works by supplementing the existing main dictionary, user dictionary and any other specialist dictionaries with an entirely new "specialist medical" dictionary. This means that you'll simply be able to spell check more words - you won't lose anything you've previously added yourself.

7. Where do Grebin's medical words come from?
New words are being coined all the time and we are always looking to expand the spelling list. Principle sources of new words are the various regular "British English" medical journals and contributions from medical practitioners.

8. Do you offer discounts for multiple user licenses?
Yes, for the latest pricing please refer to the orders page. You can get a list of license costs by number of users by clicking on "Unit Price".

9. We purchased Grebins for use by a single user and now want to use it throughout the team. What is your pricing policy in this situation?
We offer discounts for multiple user licenses and extend this policy to additional user licenses too. For example if you already have a single user license and want to purchase four more, for a total of five, your upgrade price will be the cost of a 5 user license (total number of users) less the cost of the single user license you previously paid.

10. How easy is Grebins to use?
The pictures below show examples of how easy it is to use Grebins Medical spell checker. The specialist medical words are incorporated into the Microsoft® Word® spelling and grammar checker immediately. Just continue typing your documents as normal and Microsoft word will underline errors with red wavy lines, exactly as Microsoft Word currently does.
